It’s not entirely unknown that Belgium knows how to organise massive parties. Great examples of these are Reverze and of course Tomorrowland which are well-known within the EDM scene. Yet it seems as if one other great party is left out from the big boys: The Qontinent. Even though the festival features the biggest names in the hard dance scene each year it does not outweigh other major festivals such as Decibel outdoor and Intents Festival. This is in fact quite strange as The Qontinent has more to offer than meets the eye. We provide you 5 reasons why you simply can’t miss The Qontinent Weekend!

The location

The festival grounds of The Qontinent are located close to a small village called Wachtebeke in Belgium which may cause some trouble for any (Dutch) traveler which might even make them say "Well, this is too far for me, let’s just stay at home". This is a shame! Even though the journey might be long you will rewarded with a great scenery in the forest surrounded by water. The stages of the festival are located on an island (of intensity) in the middle of 4 sources of water which gives the impression as if you’re far away from reality. Aside from this finding a spot to park your car is also fairly easy especially compared to other festivals. This will save you a lot of hustle which guarantees that the party can start as quickly as possible!

The line-up

During the 3 days of partying you will be able to explore the sets of different heavy weights of the hard dance scene such as Headhunterz, Sefa and Radical Redemption. You name it. The Qontinent offers 5 stages so every visitor can diversify themselves to their hearts content to explore the different subgenres which the festival has to offer. The bpm ranges between 150 and 200+ which means that even the craziest fanatics who only crave high speed hardcore by and among others DRS and The Satan will be satisfied. The mainstage also provides a great variation of both euphoric as well as raw hardstyle. The anthem of this year made by Devin Wild called ‘The Island of Intensity’ perfectly captures this diversity as it resembles both the euphoric side of hardstyle as well as the raw side. The Qontinent therefore proves to be a festival representing the harder styles to its finest!

The festival grounds

The Qontinent should not be labeled as a small festival yet also not as overwhelming. This has to do with the fact that everything is set up relatively compact. It proves to especially convenient when taking a small break to have something to eat and drink: you don’t have to miss a single minute of the fun. Aside from this it also seems as if the festival is not too crowded for a single minute which also means that it’s not too crowded: enough room to dance! But there’s more… since the camping site is so closely connected to the festival grounds it’s incredibly easy to take a stroll back to your tent.

The camping

An indispensable element of a proper weekend festival: a cozy camping at which everyone decides to turn up his own speakers and create some loud private parties. Or to annoy the neighbors who also decide that it would be a great idea to annoy others. Conviviality guaranteed! But the camping provides more than just coziness. Enough toilets? Check. A great amount of people from all nationalities? Check. Aside from this Bass Events also provides the option to hire a preconceived tent to save you some time with setting up your own. The weekend will therefore start even better at this beautiful camping surrounded by water.

Belgium

While most of the harder styles fanatics will conceive this to be a downside with regard to the extended distance to be travelled compared to the Netherlands. The large advantage of The Qontinent however is the reduced age restriction which is 16+ compared to most parties in the Netherlands which wield a restriction of 18+. This means that younger lovers of the harder styles will be able to have a taste of the festival life at an earlier age. Even better: a lot of the djs who are present are at certain times easily approachable to have a chat or picture taken with them. And then we haven’t even talked about the hospitality and exuberance of the Belgium crowd yet…

The Qontinent is clearly a festival which you simply have to visit. Whether that’s a whole weekend, a Saturday or simply a Sunday. Upcoming Friday the party will be kicked off, be there!
