How to survive Defqon.1?

The best playground of the year is almost open, and prepping for the weekend has begun. At Defqon.1 you have the time of your life and you make the best memories, but we can't deny that it can be a little tough now and then. After many weekends on this beautiful festival, we have compiled a list of tips for the Weekend Warriors. These ensure that the low moments are eliminated and you can continue to enjoy the ultimate Defqon.1 experience.

This is how you conquer a good camping spot
Plan your way to your ideal place!
If you gather well in advance with everyone in front of the entrance (11:00 a.m. is not bad) and agree where you want to stay, you have a good chance that you have a camping spot together with your friends.

Take a cart with you. So you don't have to lift anything.

Coming by car? In order to get to your ideal place as quickly as possible, it is a good idea to initially only take your tent with you when you enter the terrain. That saves a lot of time juggling all of your luggage. When you have secured your spot, you can get the rest of your things after.

Make your camping spot comfortable and cozy
A tent with a black interior. If you have the feeling that you want to sleep a few hours during this weekend, take a tent with a black interior with you. This way it stays dark and cool in your crash pad.

Make sure you bring a party tent. Or two, or three. Outside of festival hours you can sit here afterwards (dry) or continue the party with your friends.

Folding chairs, a blanket and warm socks. A must for the cooler night hours.

Decorate the place! Think of garlands, lights on battery, glitter curtains and other attributes. Besides, your place is easier to recognize in a field of tents, tents and even more tents.

Shower and freshening up tips
Shower at night. In between parties, you have to take a shower (or not of course). To skip the lines for the showers: try to take your moment at night.

Buy a shower hook. It can be useful to purchase your own shower hook and take it with you to hang your clothes. These are not included in the showers at the campsite.

Bring your bath slippers. You will need them!

Refreshment tissues and baby wipes are very handy.  If you just don't feel like taking a shower but still want to freshen up, it is always convenient to have refreshment tissues at hand.

Festival power food (and drinks) to get through the weekend
Eat and drink (even when you don't feel like it).
The most important thing to get through such a weekend successfully. Preferably with as many useful nutrients as possible of course. But especially: salt! When you are partying so much you lose a lot of salt. It is important to keep this up. You will notice that you feel fitter.

To go noodles and cup-a-soup are ideal. You can get hot water from the food courts (in exchange for coins of course) or you can choose to bring your own camping stove.

Food in a can. From 'knakworst' to tuna, or fruit such as pineapple. For the vegans among us: Van Blik has whole vegan meals in a can. Sounds good, right? But also great if you are not a vegan.

Drinks. Drinks in small packages, such as soy chocolate milk (easy to keep) for example. Or a good idea to freeze large packs of drinks and keep them in a cool box to keep everything cool. Keep in mind that you can take a maximum of 4.5 liters of soft drinks and drinks with less than 14.5% alcohol. Glass and other alcoholic drinks are prohibited.

Didn't bring enough? You can get food and drinks from the food courts.

What else you need
More than 1 pair of shoes. You really don't want to step into your wet shoes with your fresh socks the next day.

Bandaids. For possible blisters.

A poncho. Also with this tropical weather report. We're still talking about Defqon.1. You never know.

A festival cap. So that you can refill your bottle.

Dextro and aspirin. Absolutely indispensable for when you are not feeling too well (nausea and headaches).

Everything check? Then you're Defqon.1 ready. It’s quite a list, but if you are at the campsite and you are packed with the stuff named above, you will be relieved. Bring it on!
