Today it's time for a weekend full of loudness, Pussy Lounge madness and phat beats: it's time for Decibel outdoor 2019! There’s a big mark around this weekend on the calendars of the real hardstyle fanatics. The preparation for this weekender is different for everyone, but one thing that is on everyone's to-do list: putting the anthems on replay.

What is a big festival without its own anthem? An anthem is so much more than just a collection of tunes in which, if you're lucky, the name of the festival is mentioned 3 times with a particularly heavy voice. An anthem is part of the theme, the road to it and the key to good memories.

Think about it: a good anthem makes you extremely excited about the experience that awaits you. Arriving at the party, everything comes together while the anthem blasts through the speakers. Afterwards it is not the photos that bring back memories, but it’s that anthem. For a moment you are in front of the mainstage again together with your party crew, and there’s nothing that bring can bring you down!

Lift your hands to the sky, we’ve got something to tell. You make this shit go down, you are Decibel!
Decibel outdoor is a concept that understands the magic of an anthem. The majority of the anthems of Decibel outdoor belong to the category of "magical summer records", some of which we can even declare as "rare music pearls." That is why we have plunged into the wonderful world of Decibel outdoor anthems and have collected the coolest anthems in a top 5. Choosing was almost impossible, but brace yourself: these anthems match the level of the Rainbow Kart of Mario Kart or beyond!

5. Brennan Heart - City of Intensity (2009)

For this I went deep into the file cabinet. 10 years ago already when Brennan Heart a.k.a mister I AM HARDSTYLE himself released this track.

4. Ran-D - United (2016)

The anthem of Decibel outdoor 2016, my very first Decibel outdoor! You could argue that I am therefore biased, but nothing could be further from the truth. This anthem has earned a place in the top 5. “When you're out kicking dust, having fun with your crew. Feel the sun touch your skin, feel the heat coming through.” The way in which the party is summarized in the lyrics in combination with a catchy sound is priceless.

3. Noisecontrollers - Summer in The City (2010)

Arriving at the top 3, the temperature is already starting to rise. It is now already 9 years ago when Noisecontrollers let the public kick it until sunset with the words: Release the sunlight and wake-up the city”. This uplifting melody brings you back to those beautiful summer days even on the darkest winter day.

2. Zatox - D.E.C.I.B.E.L. (2012)

“Dope, energy, crowd, illegal, bass, extreme, loud: Decibel.” With these words, hardstyle conquered my heart and that from many other bass junkies. In this anthem, Zatox tells what the name of the mecca for the harder styles stands for. The lyrics of this anthem are so rough. You could consider it as the 7 commandments that a hardstyle party must meet. I know the song by heart by now. In combination with the cool beats and melodies, it is the rightful number 2.

1. Zany & Max Enforcer feat. MC DV8 - Sound Intense City (2011)

Arrived at number 1: Sound Intense City. 8 years ago it was time for “that hot time in the paradise city” . Although the temperatures would reach the absolute pinnacle a year later during 2012, also known as “the hot hell of Decibel”, this anthem still brings temperature to level tropical island 8 years later!

Without having taken a foot at Decibel outdoor, these lyrics tell you exactly what to expect. If you are tired, you still feel an unprecedented euphoria of this uplifting melody. The verse builds up and the chorus approaches. The beat is getting rougher and the voice of MC DV8 rises above everything else. “Lift your hands to the sky, we've got something to tell. You make this shit go down, you are Decibel!”

All worries disappear like snow in the sun and you go completely mental. You have never felt the euphoria like this before. This moment is magical and unprecedented. Within three minutes, my regular wash turned into a complete festival experience. That is what a good anthem can do to you. Unfortunately I was not there during this golden edition of Decibel outdoor, but “like Mr. Rose said, all them girls are pretty” , if I must believe that aftermovie.

As you can see in the top 5, Decibel is inextricably linked to the words summer and city. In recent years, the terrain of Beekse Bergen has seen more sunlight than caught raindrops. It is therefore not surprising that the word "Decibel outdoor" evokes a picture of a sun-drenched city in most of us, that is open every year for a city trip in August. The word ‘summer’ cannot be found in the anthem of this year's Live Loud by Atmozfears and the weather forecast may have looked brighter. Rain or shine, Decibel is getting rough and I can't wait until Friday!
