The Radical Redemption Event 2019: Brotherhood of Brutality

Most hardstyle artists dream of it: their own event. None other than Radical Redemption hosted his own event for the 5th time, last Saturday. The Breepark was once again transformed into The Radical Dome. This evening was all about the best of Minus is More and friends. Sets such as Radical Redemption live, The One Man Army, Minus Militia and The Final Deathblow. This is The Radical Redemption Event 2019: Brotherhood of Brutality.

The love for Radical Redemption can be felt before we are even inside. From every car, we hear his music pop and everywhere you see dedicated fans in Radical Redemption merchandise. We can also hear the loud noise of The Radical Dome already outside. You can almost hear the classics of Chain Reaction. The bass is pounding on records like 'The Record Breaking' and 'The Fame'. A striking detail is that The Radical Dome is a lot smaller this year. This creates a more intimate atmosphere than in previous years.

The music gets rough and hard really quick tonight. Just one hour after the doors are opened, Ncrypta and RVAGE already play a tough battle. The kicks of 'Omega' go right through your bones. RVAGE also ruthlessly fires its 200 bpm edit of 'Drop The Bass' at the audience. The pace goes up, even though it's not even midnight yet!

After the exciting set of Rejecta, all Air Max are already danced in for the first special moment of the evening. Art of Dance strikes again and manages to build up the excitement. On a big screen appears the trailer of The Brotherhood of Brutality and where the trailer ends, the event continues. Radical Redemption is chained and is freed by spies who come down to a rope. When the spies are on the ground, smoke plumes shoot over the stage and bright light can be seen. We hear the vocal of The Brotherhood of Brutality and when the melody sounds, 'the man himself' becomes visible in his famous Radical Redemption suit. Fire fountains are shooting out of the ground and the voice of MC Nolz screams: "Do it for the people, do it for the good. Together we are...''', the whole audience participates: 'THE BROTHERHOOD!'.

During the half-hour that follows, many of Radical Redemption's familiar tracks pass by, some in a 2.0 jacket. 'Just Like You' has been given an extra dose of kickrolls and even the real kickrollers are surprised. The kick-edit of 'Brutal 6.0' also makes for a great drive in the set.

Crypsis live and Act of Rage vs. D-Sturb keep this drive going, and after that, it's time for The One Man Army set. Radical Redemption plays down The Dome with tracks like 'The One Man Army', 'Piece of Shit' and 'Suicide Bassline'. After the set from Warface, Minus Militia show their whole new album 'The Code of Conduct' for the first time and of course, they close down with 'Gas d'r op'. Followed by some Rebelion madness. A nice symbol, since they won the DJ-contest of The One Man Army (2015) back in the days.

After this, Denekamps Gespuis brings hardcore from Twente. Funny dialogues alternate with some hardcore shit. This is followed by a back-to-back set by Miss K8 vs. The Satan. This combination sounded pretty unusual at first sight, and during the evening this set doesn't really come into its own. The Satan takes too much lead and this makes it sound a bit monotonous. This is also noticeable in the atmosphere in the audience.

Luckily this is fixed quickly. Just before the last set of the evening, there is a video on the big screen. In this video Radical Redemption thanks all his fans for their dedication. But not to get too emotional, this video is followed by a hardcore set by Joey himself: The Final Deathblow. All hard Radical Redemption tracks pass by, like 'Scream', 'The Desecrated (Remix)', 'Hannibal', 'Sacrifice', 'In Your Face' and of course 'Kick on your Face'.

When the last kick has flown through the hall, Radical Redemption makes a short speech to thank the audience, the organization and his father in particular. His father took care of the orchestra two years ago and last year he took care of the band with the drums. We see the big tough Radical Redemption slowly turn into an emotional Joey. Last summer his father was diagnosed with cancer and he has had several chemotherapy sessions. Joey starts crying and the whole hall gets a lump in his or her throat. Finally, spotlights are pointed at the back of the room and his father gets thunderous applause from everyone. We wish Joey, his father, and family a lot of recovery and strength, in this difficult time. Still, Radical finds his power back and closes the evening positively by announcing the next Radical Redemption event again. Army of the Radical, see you next year!
