A love letter to... Frontliner
Dear Frontliner,
The Melodyman. The man who always manages to turn every melody into gold and to enchant me and many other with epic tracks such as ‘World Outside’ and Halos’. The man who creates music that truly hits the right chord with every note. Frontliner is back, and I couldn’t be happier. Because you, Barry, are someone who can be totally in his own element playing your magical tracks in front of the crowd which makes me escape from reality: it’s only the music that matters. Shivers guaranteed!
One of my best memories of yours was Defqon.1 2013. This was my very first hardstyle festival. That year you got the opportunity to create the ‘Weekend Warriors’ anthem which really was the icing of the cake of my weekend. To this day it still gives me shivers when I think about it. Just hearing the first seconds of a track of yours already reminds me of those amazing memories, bringing me back to that magical moment.

You are, together with Q-dance, the patriarch of the Weekend Warriors and since have claimed a special spot in our scene, you have become a household name. I was so happy to hear that you will return to the UV this year. Wait what?! Of course this weekend will therefore be extra special as we can wear the name ‘Weekend Warriors’ with pride once again. When you start playing tracks such as ‘Symbols’, ‘Greenhouse’ or ‘Sunblast’, it will become difficult to get a hold of us as we will become unstoppable. This is what I live for! Being together with the melody, the basis and the kicks. This is what I dance for, definitely. Enjoy mode: ON!
You’re not just an amazing producer for me who know what to achieve but aside from this you’re also a unique artist with a great passion for the music. You’re rather quirky as an artist yet with a great heart for music you deliver a unique contribution to our hardstyle scene. By transferring your positive hardstyle energy to the crowd you managed to connect the whole world with your music. You keep surprising me with your harmonic melodies combined with a fat basis. The fact that you’re not afraid to make new exciting choices or to take a different road makes you, as an artist, an interesting individual.
When I was just starting to enjoy hardstyle you managed to boost my passion for the music. Your music was the basis. I believe I am not just speaking for myself when I say that you’re one of the hardstyle dj’s that ignited the fire of this genre, the oil that made the fire spread in the early days. I’m still enjoying all your tracks, the time when you were still signed at Scantraxx, your live sets such as your performance at Hard Bass 2010, and all your amazing collaborations with other artists, B-Frontliner in particular. I can tell you that I’m already very excited for your set at Defqon.1 and the upcoming album with B-Front. Barry, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
