A love letter to... Ti Sento
“Un brivido lungo la schiena, un colpo che fa pieno centro”. Translated freely as: A shiver running down my spine, a shot that hits the bullseye. Is it the language of love? The straightforward Italian sound? The awesome melody? Or a combination of those three? This is an ode to my all time favourite. A love letter to... the most beautiful hardstyle record ever: ‘Ti Sento’.
Before I bother you with my emotional epistel about 'Ti Sento', maybe I should tell you something about my weak spot for Italy. I love the language, the culture, the fashion, the music (and the hardstyle) and the food. You can drive me crazy with videos in which Antonio Carluccio makes pasta carbonara with an amazing piece of guanciale. Pasta is almost better than sex. No wonder my favourite song always comes from an Italian.
Yet 'Ti Sento' doesn't start with Technoboy. Before Technoboy or hardstyle, there was Matia Bazar: an Italian pop group, that even once participated in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1985 they made 'Ti Sento', a real Italian classic. A bit too hip (synthesizer vibes) and 80's for me, but the vocals are still just as beautiful. Until Technoboy started working on it in 2009 and made one of the most beautiful hardstyle songs ever.

I'm in the middle of the audience. Tens of thousands of fans around me. The room is only lit by a few beautiful lasers, when I hear the simple kick pounding through the speakers. Goosebumps from my crown to my toes. “TI SENTO!”
I feel a wave of energy through the audience. Everyone is just as excited as I am. The reverse bass fills the room, followed by the melody: that simple, brilliant melody. It touches you in the deepest part of your soul. And then it drops. Everybody in the same direction, towards the DJ. Hands up, eyes closed, feet off the floor. They are stamping and dancing, as if it's 2009 again.
Normally, I’m not a huge fan of breaks, but the break in ‘Ti Sento’ is brilliant. When you are completely lost in the moment, that beautiful Italian voice comes up. Carried away in the beautiful melody, we build up towards the climax.
‘Ti Sento’ let’s the earth stop spinning for a moment. As if the world around me no longer exists. “Tiiiiiii sentoooo, la musicaaaaaa si muove appenaaaaaa”. I feel how the lyrics come out of my toes and how the music makes me float. For more than seven and a half minutes I'm completely zoned out, disappeared into the world of Technoboy's ‘Ti Sento’.
This one is for anyone who has ever been surrounded by his best friends, with his eyes close to the dance floor. This one is for everyone who breathes hardstyle. ‘Ti Sento’ makes you forget everything around you. Gives you an indescribable feeling and let you live in the moment. The emotion, the drive, the energy, it's enchanting. It's exactly what I like about hardstyle. And that's why 'Ti Sento' is my all-time favorite. Technoboy, please, one more time?
