A love letter to... D-Sturb
Dear Jorrit,
I want to thank you for the invitation to the party at your place! This project X party is already going strong for quite some time already and that’s why I decided to thank you for this. According to me it’s a good reason to do something generous in return. I’m writing you this loveletter as a token of gratitude. You are the talent of the future.
For me, hardstyle has always been my source of energy and enthusiasm that gives my life colour and meaning. My preference goes out to the golden years of hardstyle between 2006 and 2012 as we know it. In the years that follow a new sound emerges which is mainly centered around ear shattering screeches and heavy kicks. With a sense of curiosity and shudder I realise that our scene is changing. I wonder whether the balance between energetic kicks and that feeling of ‘the sound of summer’ will not fade away and be overwhelmed by overpowered kicks. In fact, that’s not the case. Every new era of hardstyle brings us new talents, hidden gems and true artists. One of these artists is you, Jorrit!
Since 2016 you have started to appear on my radar. You left a huge impact on me. I can still remind myself this feeling of doubt: ‘‘Is this a one-day fly or perhaps something real?’’. I decided to deepen myself in into your tracks and discovered several tracks that truly made me feel powerful during my sessions in the gym. Especially tracks such as ‘Anxious’ and ‘Unbeatable’ got the job done and were a valuable addition to my Spotify playlist. It got even better when I discovered ‘Until it’s gone’. This track simply contains an insane amount of power and a timeless chorus that actually made me stop exercising as I was so fascinated with your innovative sound. This is much more than producing, this is an act of art!
What follows is simply amazing: everything you put your hands on turns into gold. You are being booked for some of the best festivals such as Loudfest and Dominator. Besides this you also manage to continue creating musical masterpieces straight from your magic box of hardstyle. By means of a huge dose of high power you start writing your own legacy which eventually results in a new highlight of 2017: the creation of the Shockerz anthem. We didn’t expect differently of you that this anthem would prove to be an excellent addition to the concept of this event as it perfectly represents the raw side of hardstyle.
2018 was not just the year of golden medals at the Olympic Winter Games and the extreme summer. It is also a year in which you provide us with a legendary album. Kick rollers, rauwdauwers and beatfreakz: be on your mark for the season of D-Sturb. Together with Radical Redemption you host the indoor mainstage of Intents Festival. You guys manage to utterly destroy Oisterwijk and its surroundings. You even manage to spark the excitement of every hardcore fan at Dominator. The same applies to Loudness: it even seems as if the whole stage is trembling in fear.
You will see me partying with me friends during your sets at the same spot: front left, always full of energy and enthusiasm. The kickrolls just always seem to be in perfect harmony with your epic melodies, sometimes being interrupted by terrifying screeches: a perfect formula.
Thanks to you raw hardstyle has found a place in my heart. You have given me confidence in the future of hardstyle and every current that flows out of it. Thanks to you my Spotify playlists are filled with music and I know that you will continue making these masterpieces. The music you have produced previous years is simply timeless and will never be forgotten. Tracks such as ‘Until it’s gone’, ‘Losing Myself and ‘Party At My Place’ are for me a perfect representation of the sound of raw hardstyle and I definitely hope that you won’t forget this. Jorrit, you have found a special place in my universe and I hope you will be present at a party at my place!
Also a big D-Sturb fan? Last weekend we enjoyed D-Sturb several times at Intents Festival, with his live set at the mainstage on Saturday, as the highlight. With this amazing Level 6 set, he definitively closed his Next Level live-act. His 'D-Sturb - The Next Level' album will be available from tomorrow on all streaming channels. Pre-save!
