A love letter to... Rebelion

 

To me you are the most perfect duo in the Hardstyle scene. It’s because of you, that I drive across the country two to four times a month to admire your music on stage. Together with all fanatic fellow Rebels, I am always at the forefront. I will never get bored. And that is why I want to thank you for everything that you brought me and the rest of the audience, in the past few years. 

 

I wasn’t completely convinced the first time I heard your music. Your sound was so new and different. Still, I thought it was interesting, so I was there in the hangar well before you got on stage at Q-BASE 2016. With a lot of power and energy you stormed the stage and started playing the new Uprising tracks. You really blew me away. There is so much drive in your music. I couldn’t help but jump and go with your energy. 

 

After not just me, but also the scene was sold, things took off rapidly. You guys became so popular so quickly. Whenever you are on the line-up, the room is packed, and I am there. With Uprising you really have influenced the scene. It seemed as if the boundaries of raw hardstyle faded and the rules were broken. Many artists followed quickly. And that’s how the typical Gearbox became popular.

 

In 2017 you were part of Team Red during Hard Bass. It was unbelievable to hear your tracks, which had become so popular in such a short amount of time, in a packed GelreDome. Uprising in the GelreDome: Bi-zarre. In 2018 you just did it again, but this time with tracks from your second album. Again a huge success!

 

From the Rebelion set at Supremacy to you live act Rebel[UT]ion on Defqon.1. Main stages, crowded festival tents, everything went upside down. After all those sets that I have seen from you, I continue to wonder how you do it again and again. The energy it gives me, just to see how much you guys enjoy it yourselves; I just can’t get enough of it. 

 

No wonder you had the honor to make the QAPITAL anthem this year. It’s amazing that your evolved sound now reaches its full potential as the anthem of such a big event. You guys deserved it! The chaos combined with that raw sound fits QAPITAL perfectly. 

 

I can’t wait for your set at the Ziggo Dome, transformed into a raw arena. Hearing your music during the anthem show is definitely going to be something I will never forget. Gary and Raymond, thanks for everything. You are my favorite (raw) hardstyle duo. Ever. I see you, front row. Rebel Forever.
