A talent for making hardstyle, an energetic stage presence, a unique drive or a special view on music. The emerging hardstyle DJs of today are the legends of the future. Read on, get surprised and discover some new, fresh talents.

It’s often that you can enjoy the music of these guys In sets by artists such as Rejecta and Deetox. Although we like to see them play ourselves, it displays a lot of joy. They are known for their energetic and raw tracks, but with their recent release ‘Follow Me’ they have shown that the melodic side suits them well, too. Their versatile talent is recognized by major labels such as Q-dance's NEXT and Scantraxx where they have released their tracks and if it's up to them, they will performing be on the BLUE at Defqon.1 in a few years. Time to get to know the guys from Deluzion a little better.

Deluzion consists of two energetic guys from Brabant: Bart and Max. And that they have become a hardstyle duo is a nice coincidence. They once started their DJ careers separately. When they started talking at a party, they agreed to make a record together, and this turned out to be a direct hit. “This was fun, it actually worked pretty well together. In fact, we liked it so much that we decided to go ahead and get down to business.”

They distinguish themselves with their diverse approach

However, it does not always run smoothly. The difference between their visions of music sometimes resulted in clashes and friction. “We want to go far with Deluzion. It is important to discuss a lot to come up with something that you both can be satisfied with. You often come up with new insights and ideas, but sometimes you get in the way of each other.” Over time they have come to know exactly what they have in common and they have become a rock-solid duo. “We have daily contact about music, new ideas, but also nonsense.”

Besides seriously building plans and ideas and working on music, the studio is a place where these two make fun of each other to a serious extend. “There are a lot of moments where we realise that what we’re doing is quite strange, but fortunately no one sees us. We can act crazy and laugh together. Having fun with what we do together is the key for us to keep working well together.”

They distinguish themselves with their diverse approach. Heavy bangers and melodic tracks should therefore alternate in a good set. “‘Follow Me’, for example, is really different from what you are used to from us. We were in a very happy, melodic flow and we also find it important to alternate in our music.”

They also bring this variety by collaborating with different artists. For example, they announced that there’s a special collab coming up together with B-Front. If you had told Deluzion a few years ago that they were going to collaborate with B-Front, they would have thought you were crazy. “Who doesn’t know B-Front, and who hasn’t listened to his music!?” Max and Bart think it is an honour to be able to combine their styles and create something new with Bob. “We are sure that it will really do well for many people. It really is a combination of styles. So you can't say it's more of a B-Front or Deluzion record. We can’t wait to let you hear it!”

On that note, Deluzion reveals that there are more collabs coming up. The next release is a track with D-Attack and they are also collaborating with an artist that everyone should know. “He often plays our records, so we thought it was really cool to make a record together. Who that is? We will leave that in the middle. Patience is a virtue!

Bart and Max are most proud of the fact that other DJs play their tracks in their sets, as this is a great honour. “The great messages from people who let us know that they really like what we do, that makes us very proud.” It started last year with ‘Partystarter’. The two have heard that track in many places, “and I think many people who also make music recognize that. That really brings a big smile to your face. Especially when you hear it on a mainstage, the BLUE on Defqon.1, or some other sick spot.”

They unanimously agree on one thing: they want to have a spot on the BLUE stage on Defqon.1 someday. “Of course, our goal is to have been in many more places, like all mainstages at any party, but the atmosphere we experience there is simply magical. We like to check that off our bucket list.”

We had our schedule full of parties and festivals
These dreams will of course be postponed for a while due to the current situation. Deluzion had their schedules full of parties and festivals and of course they were very much looking forward to this. “You do it all for the performances. It is the result of hard work in the studio. Unfortunately we, and of course many others, have to put this on hold for a while.” Very unfortunate but also necessary, they think. “Health and safety come first. It is important for us to remain visible and to show people what we do. And to make music to the max of course. So that when all this is over, we can show you something innovative!”

So Deluzion will definitely not sit still in the near future. “We like to take people along in what we do, and also to help our fellow producers who want to learn how to make hardstyle. We are going to make a number of videos in which we explain how we approach and make things. Quarantine school!” The duo sees this quiet time as an opportunity to learn, for them and for their fans.

But the boys miss the performing enormously. They came up with the idea to work together with a few fellow DJs instead of competing. “You now see a lot of live streams to keep the audience entertained. We want to bring our own party to people's homes; we are currently also busy with this. You can say what you want, but we don't like to sit still. It's time to rock!”
